Comprehensive Health

History Review

A detailed intake that includes your medical history, current symptoms, medications, allergies, surgeries, and other relevant background information. This helps us understand your overall health and develop a personalized treatment plan.

Physical Exam

We perform a basic physical exam which typically includes blood pressure, heart rate, height, and weight. Additional evaluations may include heart and lung auscultation, neurological assessments, and orthopedic exams as needed. The examination also incorporates Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnostics such as pulse and tongue observation. Please avoid brushing your tongue or consuming foods or drinks that may stain it (such as coffee, blueberries, or colored candies) prior to your appointment, to ensure an accurate assessment.

Acupuncture

We use the highest-grade, single-use acupuncture needles made from surgical-grade stainless steel. These needles are designed and manufactured to meet strict medical standards, ensuring safety, minimizing discomfort, and preventing muscle tissue damage. Our doctor is highly trained in a special painless insertion technique to reduce or eliminate discomfort during treatment. Most acupuncture points do not cause pain upon insertion; however, some particularly sensitive points may produce a brief sharp or tingling sensation, especially when targeting specific health concerns. The level of sensation can vary depending on each patient’s constitution and condition. Many individuals may also feel a sense of energy flow, warmth, heaviness, or movement around the needle sites or throughout the body—this is considered a positive and normal response to treatment. These sensations reflect the body’s energetic engagement with the acupuncture process. Our doctor has extensive experience working with extremely sensitive patients and will adjust the technique to ensure the session remains comfortable and effective. Needle retention typically lasts between 15 to 30 minutes, depending on your body’s condition. In some cases where the patient is too weak for standard acupuncture, we may perform an unretained session combined with moxibustion, a gentle heat therapy applied to acupuncture points to enhance the therapeutic effect.

Standard Ear Seeding (Auriculotherapy)

Auriculotherapy involves stimulating specific points on the ear that correspond to different organs and systems in the body. We use natural Vacaria seeds, which are energetically neutral in Traditional Chinese Medicine terms. These seeds are adhered to the ear using small adhesive patches to provide gentle pressure without any puncturing. The seeds are typically retained on the ear for three to four days, and up to seven days before removal. This therapy is painless and supported by a growing body of research for various conditions.

Metal Ear Seeding (Auriculotherapy)

This is a variation of standard ear seeding, using 24k gold-plated or silver-plated seeds based on your energetic needs. Gold seeds are used for their warming and energizing properties, while silver seeds are more cooling and sedating. The seeds are applied with adhesive and do not puncture the skin. They are retained on the ear for three to seven days and are completely pain-free.

Vacuum Cupping

Vacuum Cupping is a traditional therapy that uses disposable plastic cups to create suction on the skin. This gentle suction helps promote circulation, release muscle tension, and support the body’s natural healing processes. It is commonly used for conditions such as muscle stiffness, back or neck pain, respiratory imbalances, and digestive concerns. The therapy is non-invasive and does not involve any puncturing or breaking of the skin. Some temporary circular marks may appear after treatment, which typically fade within a few days and are not painful.

Fire Cupping

Fire cupping uses glass cups and a controlled flame to create suction before being applied to the skin. This traditional method increases circulation, encourages detoxification, and provides deep muscle relief. Some temporary circular marks may appear after treatment, which typically fade within a few days and are not painful.

Infrared Red Light Therapy

This heat lamp therapy is often used during acupuncture needle retention to enhance treatment outcomes. It delivers gentle infrared warmth to the body, helping to increase circulation, reduce inflammation, support tissue repair, and promote relaxation. The therapy is comfortable, soothing, and non-invasive.

Electro Acupuncture

Electroacupuncture involves attaching gentle electrical stimulation to acupuncture needles to increase therapeutic effects. It is commonly used for conditions such as numbness, weakness, muscle and joint pain, or post-stroke rehabilitation. Patients may experience a mild tingling or tapping sensation during treatment, which is generally very tolerable and effective.

Moxibustion (Smokeless Only)

Moxibustion is a heat therapy applied to acupuncture points using a smokeless moxa stick. It is especially beneficial for patients with low energy, chronic fatigue, or cold-related conditions. The therapy helps warm the body, boost circulation, and enhance immune function. Patients typically feel a comforting warmth without any pain or burning.

Standard Herbal Prescription

Based on your pulse, tongue, and overall assessment, your practitioner may prescribe a professional-grade herbal formula from a highly trusted and credentialed supplier in the herbal medicine industry. These formulas are designed to address your specific condition and are available in either pill or powder form. You may choose to have the prescription delivered to your home or pick it up from the clinic.

Custom Herbal Prescription

For complex cases or specific individual needs, the practitioner may create a fully customized herbal formula tailored to your weekly progress and body constitution. Dosages and ingredients are personalized based on your evolving condition. This option is highly recommended for chronic or complicated health concerns.

Lifestyle and Nutritional Advice

You may receive tailored advice on diet, lifestyle habits, stress management, and other supportive strategies to enhance your healing process. These recommendations are aligned with Traditional Chinese Medicine principles and your individual health goals.

Shonishin

(Pediatric Non-Needle Acupuncture)

Shonishin is a gentle, non-invasive form of pediatric acupuncture from Japan, ideal for children from 1 month to 12 years old. Instead of using needles, doctors use small, specialized tools to lightly stroke or tap the skin, helping to regulate the body, calm the nervous system, and support natural healing.

Treatments are pain-free and soothing, and many children experience improvement in conditions such as colds, digestive issues, skin problems, or sleep and behavioral concerns in just 1–3 sessions.

Shonishin is rooted in the classical East Asian medical texts—Suwen, Lingshu, and Nanjing—which form the foundation of all traditional Oriental medicine. Its effectiveness is also supported by modern research in dermatology and neuroscience. Our clinic blends this classical wisdom with current science to provide a gentle, effective, and child-friendly healing experience.

Your first visit includes one complimentary follow-up session, ideally scheduled within 3 days. This second session allows us to assess any changes or improvements and provide an additional Shonishin treatment to further support your child’s progress.
